“Magnificent!...found my Bikelangelo of BMW restoration in my own backyard!”
Collector and author Sam Bernstein.

Tucked away in the idyllic countryside of Sonoma's wine country, master restorer and owner of Sonoma Classic Motorbikes, James De Alba can be found tinkering away on vintage bikes in his busy warehouse. A converted barn that sits in the midst of vineyards and hillsides, the hub of SCM is a boneyard of mechanical parts that are resurrected from rust and neglect and transformed into creations as pristine as the day they were initially manufactured. With the passion of an artist, the obsession of a collector and the enthusiasm of an aficionado and historian, James De Alba turns each restoration into a work of art.
De Alba has appeared in BMW Motorcycle Owners of America twice in the last year including a recent November 2011 cover article depicting the story of De Alba's "first bike", his journey to the wine country and the opening of Sonoma Classic Motorbikes. De Alba was also featured in the December 2010 issue of BMW Motorcycle Owners of America. In his article "Back from the Dead," an excerpt from his upcoming book, author Sam Bernstein proclaimed De Alba "the Bikelangelo" of classic motorcycle restorations. The moniker is aptly given and well-earned.
If you seek the thrill of a bike reborn, James De Alba is your man.
